highlights

  • After your flight from the States, relax and unwind at a small upscale lodge located in Northern Tanzania's countryside with wonderful views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, while taking in the game in Arusha National Park. While you won't see the great herds yet, you will see giraffe, hippo, and buffalo, and you may see the rare Colubus monkey.

  • The focus of this safari is to get you ready for the magnificence of the migration in the Serengeti. You make your way there from Arusha through three of Tanzania's best game parks. There is a significant educational component to this trip, as you move from park to park increasing your knowledge base. By the time you get to the Serengeti, you understand the implications and details of what you're seeing.

  • Your first move takes you to Tarangire National Park where you are introduced to the idea of animals moving from park to park in seasonal fluctuations. Your lodging is at a remote luxury camp — Oliver's Camp. Enjoy magnificent hospitality and a lovely dinner under the stars accompanied by tribal music and dancing.

  • As you leave Tarangire, visit Minjingu Village with the Mwangaza Children's Project to see a school, meet families in their homes, enjoy a traditional meal prepared by the village women's group, and learn about Mwangaza's health care outreach programs. The reception you receive is unforgettable. Guests who have done the village visit always remember it as a highlight of their trip. Many characterize it as an experience that has changed their understanding of the world.

  • Journey down into Ngorongoro Crater for some of the best game viewing in Tanzania at the bottom of this intact caldera. Lion, buffalo, wildebeest, bull elephants, cheetah, zebra, gazelle-all these, and more, make the crater their year-round home.

  • Our Serengeti tented camps get you as close as possible to the game, for great close-range observation-a chance to witness the last great mass migration in the world, with herds filling the plains as far as the eye can see, and an abundance of lions and other predators attracted by the herds. For a closer look at the dynamic of hunter and hunted, you may schedule a visit with lion researchers at the Serengeti Lion Project. Our luxury tented camp provides you with good food, good beds, hot showers, and clean toilets so you don't even have to think about those things. Just relax and enjoy the feeling of being suspended deep in nature.

  • The safari concludes with bush plane transport back to Arusha, providing a spectacular bird's-eye view of the country you have explored.
