Opportunities to gain close access to the world's last wild gorillas and chimpanzees. Enjoy observing two separate gorilla families in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and two different gorilla families in Rwanda's Parc' Nationales des Volcans. Up-close viewing allows you to observe varied habitat and distinct behaviors. Visiting Uganda's Kibale National Park gives you the opportunity to view chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Plus, wildlife viewing in the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mburo National Park make this safari truly unique. Upscale accommodations throughout your safari. Both Queen Elizabeth and Mburo have a variety of traditional safari animals available for viewing, including elephants, hippo, Ugandan kob, and many antelope species.

The dense rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest has protected over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population. Local trackers meet you at the forest edge, and guide you through the rainforest to the gorilla group you will be viewing. You will be close. Close enough to hear the gorillas vocalize, close enough to watch the mothers tend to their young, and close enough to note that the silverback is in charge. The gorillas know that you are watching; but because you are in the company of a local guide who knows the family well, you are accepted by the group. Upscale accommodations and a return to Entebbe by bush plane allow you to travel deep into the wilderness while remaining very comfortable.

Track gorillas in the famous “Gorillas in the Mist” Parc' Nationales des Volcans forest. Home to five habituated gorilla families, you will approach a different family group on two separate observation days. Close range viewing allows you a glimpse into individual personalities and group dynamics. You'll will watch the stately silverback, the playful young, and the grooming females. We have local trackers locate the gorilla family you’ll be observing beforehand, so that you can move directly to the family as they roam through the lush slopes of bamboo forest. Accommodations at the lovely Gorilla Nest Lodge.

Uganda is packed with premier wildlife viewing in a variety of ecosystems. Our Wildlife of Uganda safari allows you to see it all. Spend two days with separate gorilla families in the rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and another day observing the chimps in Kibale Forest. There is nothing more spectacular than looking into the eyes of a gorilla and having him look right back at you. Wildlife species change dramatically as you move into the wetlands and savannah ecosystems of the famous Queen Elizabeth Park. Expect sightings of hippo, Ugandan kob, buffalo, elephant, bushbuck, waterbuck, as well as a great diversity of bird species drawn to the water. As you move south into the savannah ecosystem of Queen Elizabeth, you will also have the opportunity to observe "tree climbing lions," and topi, and eland. Uganda, the "Pearl of Africa" welcomes you.
