- Deeper Serengeti is truly a unique safari that allows a depth of wildlife viewing in the Serengeti that is only available with Deeper Africa. While most safaris spend two or three days in the Serengeti, we devote six days - observing two separate ecosystems. This kind of ecosystem exploration and the opportunities for wildlife observation it provides give you a unique understanding of one of the last mass mammal migrations on the planet. (At last count the Serengeti herds were estimated at 1.25 million animals.)
- The Serengeti areas that we explore have some of the most dense resident wildlife populations on the African continent, including resident predators. You will have the opportunity for predator sightings of resident lion prides, cheetah, and leopards. The Serengeti seems stocked with plains game: including buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and warthog; as well as a wide range of antelope species including: dik dik, bushbuck, waterbuck, eland, impala, and topi. Still, those wildlife populations double during migration season. So, our system of moving you from the south to the north gives you the greatest chances of encountering the Serengeti herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle.
- You will have a private Land Cruiser and private naturalist with you throughout your time in the Serengeti. Because Deeper Africa guides are Serengeti specialists, they know the ranges and territories of the resident animals and the patterns of the migration herds. This means premier wildlife viewing for you, with plenty of time to watch a lion pride hunt, zebras on patrol point, or hippos wallowing. Enjoy the Serengeti at your pace - privately. The wilderness can inspire awe, and the Serengeti remains one of the best wilderness places left on the planet.
- Our goal is to explore the wilderness of the Serengeti with you while
keeping you safe and well cared for in our exclusive private upscale camps.
Bush flights in and out of the Serengeti give you the opportunity to move
quickly to the wildlife in this vast savannah ecosystem and to see the
landscape from a bird's eye view.
- Our Olakira Camp moves with the migration through the southern and central Serengeti areas. Typically, the camp will be in the Ndutu area of the Serengeti from about mid-December to March so our guests can witness the calving season of the wildebeest in the southern Serengeti. From June onward the camp moves north to follow the migration, staying in the central Serengeti for the rest of the season. The philosophy behind Olakira Camp is to be as close to the action as possible.
- We have exclusive access to an unspoiled area of the Serengeti near the Mara border and the Mara River. Our Sayari Camp is located inside Serengeti National Park. This is a remote wilderness area, untouched by the tourists who roam the more populated areas of the region.
