Dear Deeper Africa,
Two years ago I began planning a trip to East Africa for my family: my husband, 16 year-old son, and myself. I had a good notion of where I wanted to visit in Kenya and Tanzania. And I had a feel for travel in Africa after having made a trip the prior year to South Africa and Namibia.
This time I assembled my own itinerary:15 nights at specific locations in a specific time slot - Christmas. I sent out my itinerary to 10 different travel agents that advertised as specialists in East Africa. Included on that list were both Abercrombie & Kent and Cox & Kings since I had successfully traveled with them previously. The other companies I contacted, including Deeper Africa, were all found on the web. I asked them to "price this trip!"
In short order, the leader of the pack emerged. And it was Deeper Africa! Not only did they respond to my request promptly, but they also questioned my itinerary and length of stay in each location. AND their quote was far more reasonable than the contenders. I was smitten...
The next months continued with a close working relationship with Karen Zulauf and her team to develop the most perfect East Africa holiday: thought through with excellent attention to detail (including the research of how to get oxygen for unpressurized flights) and to which is the PERFECT room for my family at each lodge.
