I spent many hours reading about safaris in Kenya and Tanzania and researching operators, but when I found Deeper Africa's Tanzania Tour rated by National Geographic, I knew I had found the trip I was looking for.  Karen Zulauf put together a two-week trip in Tanzania that provided the most time "in the bush" and the least time traveling between sites while covering more territory (four parks/ecosystems) than any other operator I found.  The trip was tailored to provide maximum time with the fewest number of guides, so our trips felt very personalized.  Aminiel Nnko in the Serengeti not only was our guide - he became our friend and together we all had an even richer experience.  Each shift - from location to location - was well orchestrated and so easy.  No part of the trip was hurried or tense.  Our accommodations and transports were terrific.  Best of all we saw the most fabulous countryside, the most amazing variety of wonderful creatures, and the very special culture of Tanzania's people.

Trip Overview

Deeper Serengeti is a unique safari that allows a depth of wildlife viewing in the Serengeti that is only available with Deeper Africa. While most safaris spend two or three days in the Serengeti, this safari devotes eight days - observing four separate ecosystems; two in Tanzania and two in Kenya. Fly in and out of the Serengeti bush for a bird’s-eye view and quick transit.

Traveling from south to north gives you the greatest chance of encountering the Serengeti herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. At last count the Serengeti herds were estimated at 1.25 million animals. The wilderness can inspire awe, and the Serengeti remains one of the best wilderness places left on the planet.
